Terre des hommes (Tdh) is the leading Swiss child relief agency. The Foundation has been helping children in need for over 50 years, defending their rights regardless of their race, creed or political affiliation. In over 35 countries, Tdh protects children against exploitation and violence, improves children’s and their mother’s health and provides emergency psychological and material support in humanitarian crises.

Tdh has operated in the Ukraine since 2015, launching its humanitarian activities by providing psychosocial support for local and displaced children and their families and providing these vulnerable families with emergency aid to help them get through the difficulties (financial support to enable families to buy food, heat their homes and get the care they need).

In Luhansk and Donetsk regions (GCA and buffer zone), TdH has successfully implemented four child protection interventions, supported by Dutch MoFA, UNICEF and the Medicor Foundation, aimed at providing children, youth and their caregivers with essential and quality protection services. In both regions, in total 26 schools were fully equipped with materials for psychosocial support provision and 110 schools as well as 10 community protection centers were provided with MGS (Movement, Games and Sport) kits for effective delivery of psychosocial support. More than 450 education specialists (teachers, psychologists, social workers) in both regions improved their skills in PSS provision to children through trainings, and youth and caregivers, as well as over 600 specialists received training on Child Protection Minimum Standards in Humanitarian Actions. As a result of TdH's interventions and continued support, 27.000 children and youth (including separated and unaccompanied children, IDP childeren, children with disabilities, orphans and other highly vulnerable groups) and their caregivers have access to the protection services in Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
As a result, today, TdH is the biggest player in child protection in the Eastern Ukraine among INGOs.
