Baota Petrochemical Group, established in 1997, is a comprehensive and cross-regional private petrochemical group mainly engaged in petroleum refining and petrochemicals, also covering coal chemical, education and scientific research, resources development, equipment manufacture, ecological tourism, etc. Its business includes four sectors, which are petrochemicals, education, science and technology, and finance. The corporation has over 15,000 employees and total assets of 34.7 billion RMB. Its core parent company is Ningxia Baota Petrochemical Group Co., Ltd, under which are 5 secondary level parent companies, 1 listed company and 1 technology management company.

With the main business of petroleum refining and petrochemicals, the corporation has a total processing capacity of 24 million tons per year, among which, 5.5 million tons in Ningxia, 6.5 million tons in Zhuhai (under construction stage 2), 10 million tons in Xinjiang (under construction stage 1), and 2 million tons in Inner Mongolia (under construction). Most raw materials are fuel oil and distillate oil imported from abroad. The corporation is developing oil & gas resources, refining, storage and pipeline transportation business in Inner Mongolia. Its oil & gas development company owns 2 oil fields in Kazakhstan and 2 oil fields in Inner Mongolia, and 120 gas stations and 1 LNG company in its downstream subsidiary oil & gas sales company.

The corporation established Yinchuan University in 1999. Currently, Yinchuan University is an undergraduate higher vocational education college with more than 12,000 students and 520 faculty and staff. Petrochemicals, Electricity and Equipment Manufacture are the university’s core majors with advantaged features. The corporation’s technology management company has one national grade-A design institute, one applied technology research institute, two state-level key laboratories and many professionals and experts for research & development, and scientific and technical support. To support its main business, Baota Group is also involved in petrochemical equipment manufacture, with grade-A manufacture qualification for pressure vessels. It is also the first majority shareholder of the listed company: Xibei Bearing Co., Ltd.

After 17 years’ development, Baota Petrochemical Group ranks the 385th in China’s Top 500 Enterprises. It has been awarded many honorary titles by the country, such as “Advanced Unit of National Employment” by the State Council, and “Advanced Unit of Employment and Social Security” by Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China, etc.
