We are looking for Senior IT Specialist to manage Help Desk operations, and administration of computer networks. He/she will be responsible for managing and implementing all aspects of personal computers, peripheral and terminal equipment as well as overseeing the development of departmental computer systems.

Type of contract: 1 year contract with mutual prolongation

Start date: November 2024

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Information systems network and help desk management:

  1. Develops and implements computer networking activities and Help Desk operations
  2. Schedules, trains, supervises and evaluates professional and support staff; provides development opportunities for staff
  3. Ensures IT staff responds to the school personnel in a knowledgeable and professional manner; establishes and administers customer service procedures
  4. Meets with Heads of Departments regards to existing computer operations and future requirements
  5. Monitors, enforces and ensures high security levels for users and network systems
  6. Interact with IT Manager to evaluate hardware and software products; monitors the work of contractors engaged to do computer related work; reviews requests and specifications
  7. Establishes and administers quality control procedures and standards
  8. Plans, designs and implements all facets of network projects and administers installations
  9. Estimates time and materials for jobs; orders equipment, controls inventory and equipment
  10. Coordinates billing procedures and maintains various records and reports (i.e., work orders, inventory supply for parts, equipment, etc.)
  11. Ensures all work is performed in compliance with all codes, standards and regulatory requirements applicable to the work
  12. Conforms to safety standards as prescribed and performs related duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  1. Thorough knowledge of current codes and regulatory standards applicable to the work
  2. Thorough knowledge of all functions relevant to the operation of Help Desk operations, and administration of computer networks
  3. Considerable knowledge of the operating characteristics, capabilities, and limitations of personal and microcomputer equipment
  4. Considerable knowledge of computer software, including the characteristics and operation of networking, spreadsheets, word processing, graphics, database managers, electronic mail, communications, and scheduling
  5. Considerable knowledge of TCP/IP
  6. Knowledge of basic School work policies and guidelines; and knowledge of departmental practices and procedures
  7. Ability to effectively manage a staff comprised of entry and journey level tradesman performing skilled networking and IS Help Desk work
  8. Ability to plan, assign, and review the work of skilled technicians in a manner conducive to high morale and performance
  9. Ability to maintain records, control inventories and prepare reports
  10. Ability to install personal computer equipment in confined areas
  11. Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods
  12. Ability to work flexible hours as necessary for the efficient operation of the department

  4. Ensuring compliance with Data Protection legislation

  7. Showing commitment and contribution to improving standards for pupils as appropriate
  8. Establishing effective working relationships with professional colleagues; senior managers, and other outside bodies such as IT equipment contractors, etc
  9. Setting a good example to students through presentation, personal and professional conduct
  10. Participating in meetings at school, which relate to the administration or organization of the school
  11. Having a working knowledge of whole school policies and procedures
  12. Occasionally work outside of normal school hours
  13. Undertaking other duties as the Headmaster may reasonably direct

Professional Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  2. Experience in a supervisory capacity in the area of computer networking, installation and repair and Information Systems Help Desk Operations.
  3. Well-developed IT expertise of software and hardware.

    Network equipment configuring
    (Cisco/HP switches, router, Wi-Fi, VoIP, Asterisk)

    Next Generation Firewall, VPN
    Windows Server 2003-2019, (AD, DNS, GPO ets...)
    Virtualization environment (Hyper-V)

    Enterprise Data Storage Systems

    Cloud-based platform administer knowledge (Office 365, Google G-Suite)
  4. Ability to speak in both the English language and Russian

    Ability to communicate effectively with persons at all levels.

    Ability to set and work to agreed targets.

    Ability to work pro-actively to achieve the efficiency and effectiveness of a team of staff.

    Ability to organize one’s own tasks with minimum supervision.
