Azure Data Architect/Data Engineer

We are currently looking for a Data Architect/Data Engineer with strong expertise in Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft SQL Server.
We are developing an application that offers advanced assessment technology for creating, managing and securely delivering tests. It features intuitive authoring tools, seamless integrations and robust analytics to support diverse educational and professional needs.
As a Data Engineer you will take on building, supporting and owning global and growing data focused environment working on key technologies such as Cosmos Database, Azure Data Factory, Synapse and PowerBI while also providing some support to a mostly Microsoft SQL Server focused team. You will take on a key role shaping how we collect, process and utilise data, working with a wider group of teams to make informed decisions to optimise our business through data-driven decisions.
The Data Engineer will also be required to develop IaC (Infrastructure as Code) scripts through Terraform that can be deployed through Azure Pipelines. Joining as a new member of a mostly SQL DBA team you will also be required to mentor team members, stay abreast of current developments in the industry and to lead projects as necessary to support the client’s dynamic suite of applications and testing services across the globe.
Responsibilities:
• Provide focused support and administration of our growing Azure Cosmos Database, Azure Data Factory and Synapse infrastructure while also working on some SQL Server based tasks.
• Implement and maintain ETL processes using various technologies.
• Participate in data and database design decisions, providing expertise to development and stakeholder teams.
• Support building, extending and optimising the performance of our PowerBI reports.
• Work with cross-functional teams to help develop Infrastructure as Code deployment scripts.
• Work closely with operational and other teams to proactively and promptly implement solutions with 24x7 on-call availability as needed.
• Review and deploy approved database code releases to QC and production environments, following company standard processes and effectively communicating constraints, issues, and timelines.
• Ensure data environment is secure, healthy, reliably backed up, and ready for all contingencies.
• Monitor and troubleshoot database environment using a variety of toolsets.
• Manage user and group access to various database resources.
• Provide data capacity, forecasting and planning.
• Evaluate and propose new tools and technologies to meet the needs of the organization.
• Follow best practices with security compliance levels, document configuration and procedures.
• Actively plan and manage projects involving new database systems and enhancements.
Requirements:
• 4 year degree in computer science-related field required or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years Azure CosmosDB enterprise-scale administration experience including designing Indexing and Partitioning policies and Georeplication / Distributed Models.
• 3+ years of experience designing data solutions, modelling data, and developing ETL/ELT pipelines at scale.
• Experience with SQL and data visualization/analytics tools (e.g. PowerBI).
• Experience with Azure Data Factory.
• Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and source control.
• Experience with Infra as Code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience Administering Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience building, configuring, monitoring, and administering data systems.
• Proficiency with Windows Server and PowerShell scripting skills.
• Strong understanding of best practices and standards for database design and implementation.
•· Experience with and understanding of various high availability and disaster recovery requirements and solutions.
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working with high demands and short deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex problems, plan and prioritize workloads in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with global, cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
• Good English skills (both written and spoken) — Upper-Intermediate+.
