Data Architect

Job Accountabilities:

• Develop, maintain, and communicate current and target state data architecture for data domains within an Enterprise
• Resolve Data Architecture Impact Across the Architecture Landscape
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architect, IM, Data management & Analytics, Software team members on the establishment and implementation of data architecture standards and methodologies.
• Perform leadership role in the areas of advanced data techniques, including data modeling, data access, data integration, data visualization, text mining, data discovery, statistical methods, database design and implementation.
• Defines and achieves the ITM strategy roadmap for the enterprise in collaboration with Data Owners, Architects, and Solution Teams.
• Ensure that Data Architecture is closely aligned to the Business Strategy, Business Operating Model and ITM strategy.
• Develop, establish, manage and improve ITM Data Architecture framework adopting world-wide best practices and international standards where practical.
• Govern, maintain and promote the policies, standards and procedures for ITM Data Architecture process.
• Ensure process is fit for purpose, designed and locally valid. Monitor process performance and define and implement the necessary improvement measures.
• Develop and maintain an integrated view of Business processes and use it as inputs for creation of Conceptual, Logical & Physical Data Models.
• Develop and maintain set of clear models and auditable documentation, understandable by stakeholders, that outlines data entities, classifications and inter-relationships within the business and the way data flows.
• Lead on the development of a single holistic data architecture model for the whole of the organization, from all architecture perspectives.
• Collaborate with ITM staff (e.g. data scientists, data analysts, data management engineers, architects, etc.) for periodical review of process deliverables from development, implementation and maintenance activities.
• Provide professional and subject matter advice on technical aspects of data architecture development.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of current practice within data architecture development and well-developed understanding of relevant legislation and policy frameworks.
• Coach, educate and guide ITM staff on Data Architecture where required to ensure alignment and quality.
• Contribute as a Competency Development Assessor for the ITM Architecture skill set.
• Liaise with business stakeholders on policy, project or operational issues responding to stakeholder needs and expectations.
• Accountable for the delivery, consultancy, and assurance for all Data Architecture in the business
• Provide data architecture support for End-to end data lifecycle management activities.
• Drive and manage the development and maintenance of the data architecture artifacts according to the data architecture standards, including roadmaps, data models and utilization for the data within the business.
• Identify and propose potential data model and data integration changes and improvements

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Information technology or related field.

Knowledge:

• Good knowledge of international standards, best practices and frameworks related to Enterprise, IT or Data Architecture (COBIT, ITIL, TOGAF, Zachman, SOA, DAMA, etc.).
• Good Knowledge of using applicable Data Architecture methodologies, tools and techniques in complex environments.
• Good ITIL knowledge
• Good knowledge of data warehouse structures, relational and non-relational database structures, server storage techniques, and data storage best practices.
• Upper Intermediate level of English: writing and speaking.

Experience:

• 7+ years in Information Technology disciplines with 5+ years’ experience in Data Management or Data Architecture (as a Data Architect, Data Engineer or similar role).
• Experience in data integration process, using structured and unstructured data. Develop processes for integration data from various internal and external sources.
• Experience in architecting for: Data Governance, Data Architecture Management, Data Development, Data Operations Management, Data Security Management, Reference and Master Data Management, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence, Metadata Management and Data Quality Management.
• Proven ability to analyze business operations and processes to understand their relationships, and drive business process optimization.
• Experience in data modelling and database design from conceptualization to database optimization.
• Experience in development of Enterprise Conceptual & Logical data models and Data flows visualization.
• Experience in designing of Physical Data Architecture, including Database Architecture, Data Integration Architecture, DW/BI Architecture & Reporting Architecture.
• Design ETL processes to cleanse and consolidate data for analytics and reporting.
• Conduct proof-of-concept (PoC) evaluations to determine the suitability of new tools and technologies.
• Proven ability to work in a technically diverse environment with an assortment of products, platforms and services.
• Experience working within Enterprise Architecture Frameworks and associated tools.
• Experience with on-site, off-site and cloud-based database solutions.

Certification:

• Preferred to have a recognized certification in an EA framework, e.g. TOGAF.
