Senior Buyer - DRC, Africa (copper mining)

About the employer: One of the leaders of the mining and metals industry, operating across 4 continents and in nearly 20 countries worldwide.

Senior buyer is responsible communication with suppliers and end users, including the documentation, communication with carriers and service providers.

LOCATION OF THE POSITION: Democratic Republic of the Congo
SHIFT SCHEDULE involves a change in the employee's geographical location (DR Congo/Home)

Requirements:

• Bachelors in Business/ Supply Chain/ Engineering
• Minimum of 3 years of work experience in purchasing within the Mining, Petrochemical, Energy, Oil, and Gas sectors
• Experience in a large multinational organization
• Experience in Africa is advantageous
• Strong upper-intermediate level of English (speaking and writing); fluency in Russian and French is a plus
• Solid analytical skills, very organized, detail-oriented, results-driven, and flexible to accommodate constant changes.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to interact effectively with all levels of stakeholders, both internally and externally.
• Strong computer skills, especially in Excel (knowledge of an ERP system such as Microsoft Dynamics 365/SAP is a plus).
• A strong team player.

Responsibilities:

1. Purchase goods, materials and services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets
2. Conduct market surveys, analyze data and consolidate results
3. Prepare and conduct business correspondence with potential and current suppliers and various external bodies to obtain the information required for fulfilling set objectives
4. Negotiate contracts and improve prices and terms of business with suppliers
5. Prepare PO and contracts based on final negotiations with selected suppliers, aligning with organizational targets and requirements

We Offer

• Location: Office in Lubumbashi, with occasional business trips to the site
• Shift Schedule (two options):

8 weeks working in the DRC, followed by 3 weeks working from home or any other location.

6 weeks working in the DRC, followed by 2 weeks working from home or any other location.

• Monthly salary: $4,000–$5,000 net, plus an annual bonus based on key performance indicators (KPIs)

• Fixed-term employment contract for 2 years, with the possibility of extension.
• Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM; Saturday from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
